Exodus 20:17 - No lusting after
your neighbor’s house—or wife or servant or maid or ox or donkey. Don’t set
your heart on anything that is your neighbor’s.
Coveting what another person has
reveals not only our discontent with what the Father has given to us, but also a
contempt for the
person that is enjoying their house, their spouse, and any other wonderful
things that the Lord has allowed. The word encourages us in this way…
Keep your lives
free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has
said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." (Hebrews
13:5)
Then he said to
them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's
life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions." (Luke 12:15)
Trust in the LORD
and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the
LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart. (Psalm 37:3&4)
May we be content
in all that the Father has allowed us to enjoy. May we desire Him above all
things. And may we celebrate God’s grace toward our neighbor.
