Reflections on Daniel 6 – Daniel in the Lion’s Den

Daniel was honorable and that was seen by all – even “pagans”.

After Daniel was spared any harm in the lion’s den, God’s sovereignty was seen and so respected by Darius that he commanded the people to only worship “Daniel’s God”.

The people who participated in trying to destroy Daniel brought destruction upon themselves and their wives and children. Our evil works negatively affect our family. The scripture tells us that those who falsely accused Daniel and their wives and children were thrown into the lion’s den and before they even hit the floor, the lions overpowered them and crushed all their bones! (verse 24)

Again, God’s reign and involvement in the lives of His children made the lions not eat Daniel but eat everyone else.

God cares for and is ultimately involved in the lives of His children. Day-to-day, intimate involvement. Modern day example: asking for safe driving. “Yes” if it’s His will – “no” if He has something better. Our God is so very involved in the minute details of our life. Amazing.
